Noites natalicias com Rude Explosion (Dezembro)

No dia 25 de Dezembro o Rude Explosion irá realizar uma festa de natal onde se irão passar os grandes clássicos da música jamaicana dedicados á dita época festiva. O local seleccionado para a festa será o Bar 36 no Bairro Alto. Os Boss sounds ficam a cargo de Liquidator, Pete Trojan e Mr. TNT.


O Miradouro São Pedro de Alcântara (Bairro Alto) será palco de uma festa Rude Explosion no dia 17 de Dezembro, com muito, Ska, Rocksteady, Early Reggae e Northern Soul, Rhythm & Blues jamaicano. O evento terá inicio ás 23h com os selectores Pirata e Liquidator.

Judge Dread, o mais rude dos rudes!

Alexander Minto Hughes, mais conhecido como Judge Dread, foi o primeiro músico branco a ter um êxito Reggae na Jamaica, e foi o recordista com o maior número de canções censuradas de sempre.


Hughes conheceu artistas jamaicanos como Derrick Morgan e Prince Buster enquanto trabalhava como Guarda-costas e porteiro de um clube nocturno em Brixton. Após uma breve temporada como Wrestler profissional com o nome de "The Masked Executioner", Hughes trabalhou como DJ numa rádio local e geriu o seu próprio Sound System.

Depois de Prince Buster ter tido um enorme sucesso em 1969 com a música "Big 5", Hughes adoptou o nome artístico Judge Dread (nome de uma música de Prince Buster) e em 1972 gravou o single "Big Six" que atingiu o 11º lugar no UK Singles Chart, tendo passado 6 meses nessa mesma tabela, vendendo mais de 300.000 cópias.


Judge Dread foi o primeiro artista branco a ter um êxito Reggae na Jamaica, para onde viajou a fim de actuar ao vivo, para surpresa de muitos que o julgavam negro.
Dread teve 11 êxitos na tabela britânica na década de 70, o que superou qualquer outro artista Reggae (incluído Bob Marley). Judge Dread está no Guiness Book (livro dos recordes mundiais) por ter o maior número de músicas censuradas de todos os tempos.

O mítico Judge Dread faleceu de ataque cardíaco no dia 13 de Março de 1998 enquanto abandonava o palco depois de actuar no The Penny Theatre em Canterbury.

Madness no Pavilhão Atlântico (9 de Junho)

Os Madness são uma das mais míticas bandas 2 Tone e tiveram um importante papel no revivalismo do ska durante a década de 80. Estes monstros do ska irão tocar no na seguna edição do festival Lisbon Calling, que se irá realizar no dia 9 de Junho no Pavilhão Atlântico em Lisboa.

Realizou-se no dia 23 de Fevereiro uma festa de Carnaval na Padaria do Povo. Muitos foram os que apareceram para dançar na noite de Carnaval ao som dos Rude Explosion Soundsystem.
